About
eHarmony
eHarmony was first launched in
2000 in the United States, but its founders began their
research three years earlier in 1997. It is distinguished from
other online dating
sites by its
reputation for finding matches and companions for people
based on clinical
research.
It has since evolved into the
Internet’s number one dating website, and is available in
Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada. After years of
counseling married couples, Dr. Neil Clark Warren
determined that there seemed to be documented evidence to
show that differences between people in a relationship
could result in their demise. Core differences in
compatibility were unable to be overcome in many cases he
counseled.
He also noted that these
differences found in relationships were just as credible as
those who were in fulfilling, long-lasting relationships
showing compatibility traits. Thus, he set out to determine if
there were particular, tangible characteristics that could
truly define a winning union between people.
He was joined by a research
professor and colleague, Dr. Galen Buckwalter, and they
collaborated to determine a set of core personality
traits and
attitudes that can potentially create long-term,
successful, positive relationships.
By establishing these values and
key attributes, these gentlemen have revolutionized online
dating and have set themselves apart from other online dating
organizations by using a formulaic approach. Their patented
program known as the Compatibility Matching System® is how
eHarmony operates and matches singles looking for quality
companionship.
The Compatibility Matching System
allows people to be matched with others who share more than
just common interests, but values and a hosts of other key
relationship areas. eHarmony has matched successfully all kinds
of people of all different ages, ethnicities, national origins,
religious and political beliefs.
The commitment continues with Dr.
Buckwalter at the helm of research and development and keeps
the matching criterion updated and relevant to the needs of
modern people, both internationally and in the United
States. Dr. Neil Clark Warren
acts as
Chairman of the Board and business advisor to eHarmony.
Their active involvement eHarmony is the cornerstone for
its success in matching people based on more than just
common interests.
